Reopening for the 2018 season on March 30th.
Galyn's was established in 1986 by the Leiser family with a definite purpose: to offer reasonably priced, well-prepared foods, served by a friendly, professional staff in a comfortable atmosphere. The Galyn's building dates back to the 1880's when it was built as a boarding house for local seafarers. An illegal speakeasy occupied the downstairs during the prohibition era, and some say a gambling casino was hidden in the back as well. Today, Galyn's features five pleasant dining rooms on the first and second floors. Take a stroll around and enjoy our collection of original artwork. Tucked upstairs you'll find the cozy Galley Lounge which was created by local craftsmen using materials salvaged from island landmarks and estates. We hope Galyn's will be a memorable part of your Mount Desert Island experience.

Locals and visitors are invited to join together Sunday evening, Aug 12, to be part of a WAVE of LOVE. On the one-year anniversary of Charlottesville, we will rally against hate and in counteraction to the white supremacist rally being held in Washington, DC.
We got to hang the newest additions to our art collection today, pieces by young local artists Finn Teach and Nathan Mark Ward.

Congratulations to Ronal Parlin, winner of the Marie Carr First Place Award at our 13th annual Art on Deck fine art show for his painting "A Day to Reflect". Second and third places resulted in ties: 2nd place Nancy J. Hill "Sun Rising, East Blue Hill" and Jana Matusz "Autumn Path"; 3rd place Steven Hileman "October Hillside" and Nancy J. Hill "Dusk Settles in on Frenchman Bay". Thank you to the more than 150 guests and artists who attended this year's event and congratulations to door prize winners, Linda from Mount Desert, and John from NY.
Galyn's 13th annual Art on Deck fine art show is tomorrow, Father's Day, from 3 - 6 pm. Come enjoy a display of paintings from Argosy Gallery, conversation with local artists, and complimentary hors d'oeuvres.
We're excited to be joining with many other area restaurants to decrease our collective impact on the environment. Galyn's has used paper bags and paper take-out products for a long time. Last year we switched to paper straws and started recycling plastics, metals, and glass. This year we've gotten a new solar array on-line and have begun sending a portion of our food waste to Agri-cycle to become bio-fuel. Thanks to A Climate to Thrive and especially Galyn's staff member Martha B. Higgins for organizing this island-wide initiative.

In honor of Cinco de Mayo we're thanking Maine's migrant workers with a donation to Maine Mobile Health Program. http://www.mainemobile.org "Maine Mobile Health Program is our state’s only farmworker health organization. Our collaborative model involves folks who carry the commitment to make a difference in the lives of Maine’s farmworkers. By linking agricultural workers to care and services, we aim to reduce health disparities and inequities of access for this workforce. Putting fruits and vegetables on ALL of our tables is not only vital work; it positively impacts our collective health."
The Mother March is event for everyone to show their commitment to Peace, Love, and the Planet. It will a great day to spend in Acadia and connect in solidarity with folks who share a passion for creating a better world. A march through downtown Bar Harbor begins at 1 pm followed by a rally on the Village Green featuring music and speakers. Saturday, May 12, 1 – 3 pm on the Bar Harbor Village Green.
